President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday said her country would “join the European family” in comments that followed the delivery of the first completed part of Georgia’s European Union membership questionnaire this week.
Zourabichvili, who is on a visit to Germany, made the comments while speaking at the remains of the Berlin Wall, and made parallels with the historic event of the fall of the wall in 1989, which she said had shown “nothing is impossible.”
“The fall of the Berlin Wall was a symbol for Georgians, for Ukrainians, for Moldovans. When the wall fell, when the Soviet Union fell, we saw that nothing is impossible. Yesterday, Georgia submitted its EU questionnaire. We will join our European family,” the President said.
The fall of the #BerlinWall… a symbol for Georgians, for Ukrainians, for Moldovans. When the wall fell, when the Soviet Union fell, we saw that nothing is impossible.

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday personally handed over the first completed part of the questionnaire to Carl Hartzel, the Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, and called the development a “paramount stage” in the EU integration process.
As part of Zourabichvili’s German visit, she and her German counterpart discussed the current developments in Ukraine, Germany's support for Georgia's European integration process, and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between their states.
