Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili reaffirmed Georgia’s “full support” for Ukraine amid the ongoing Russian invasion in a discussion organised by the International Monetary Fund on Tuesday.
Held in a digital format, the discussion took place between finance ministers and central bank chiefs of the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The discussion, opened by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, focused on the war in Ukraine, international sanctions imposed on Russia, and the impact of the military conflict on the economies of the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Khutsishvili pointed out Georgia would continue pursuing its reform agenda despite the challenges. The Minister also highlighted the importance of launching a new three-year programme with the IMF, saying it would help maintain the country’s macroeconomic stability.
Koba Gvenetadze, the President of the National Bank of Georgia, also took part in the discussion.
