In light of the Russian occupation of Georgian regions and its ongoing invasion of Ukraine it is “very important” to increase Georgia's defence capabilities, Juansher Burchuladze, the Georgian Defence Minister, said on Thursday in an interview with Imedi TV channel.
Burchuladze spoke about the threats and challenges facing the Black Sea region and Georgia in the wake of Russia's aggression in Ukraine, noting the war had increased the intensity of the existing threats and made the challenges of the security environment in the region “more urgent”.
He also spoke to the channel about the “practical cooperation” with and support of the Euro-Atlantic structures and Georgia’s international partners, and highlighted the recent steps taken by the Ministry in the direction.
