The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili has yet to receive the invitation of his Ukrainian counterpart to visit the city of Bucha where invading Russian forces have been reported to have committed atrocities, the Press Service of the Parliament of Georgia said on Friday.
The Parliament responded to the information of the Ukrainian Embassy that Papuashvili had received the invitation to visit the city and observe the scenes of the war crimes.
Earlier on Friday, the Charge d'Affaires of Ukraine to Georgia, Andriy Kasyanov, said the invitation to visit Bucha had been sent to Papuashvili the day before.
The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine addressed all parliamentarians to come to Bucha and see this crime firsthand. The relevant invitation was also received by the Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili,” Kasyanov said.
On Wednesday, Georgia aligned with the European Union declaration condemning the atrocities committed by the Russian armed forces in a number of Ukrainian towns, including Bucha.
