Georgian rescuers have saved four shepherds from an artificial island created by the Mtkvari river flooding over in the village of Kvakhvreli in Gori municipality, announces the Emergency Management Service of Georgia.

Two other shepherds remain on the island as they do not want to abandon their cattle, sheep and goats.

The island appeared yesterday on March 24. 

The rescuers resumed the operation this morning, trying to pull cattle and shepherds out of the island formed in the river.
