In order to find out what part of the Georgian population has already been infected with Covid-19, a new study will be launched starting today, announces the Head of Infectious Diseases and AIDS Centre Tengiz Tsertsvadze.

Tsertsvadze said that the results of the study will be published in 20 days.

We will research antibody content on a random sampling basis in people and we will examine those who are not officially registered as Covid-19 infected. We will find out how many more have been infected in addition to the 272,000 officially registered ones. A vaccination schedule should be planned according to the results of this study", said Tsertsvadze.

Tsertsvadze said that until the vaccination starts in Georgia another 15-20% of the Georgian population will have recovered from Covid-19.

Adding this number to 60-65% of the population which is planned to be vaccinated 'we will get about 80% of the immune layer', which is enough to defeat ypandemic, said Tsertsvadze.
