China, Turkey, Azerbaijan Georgia's top trading partners in Jan. 2021

China ($126.5 million), Turkey ($114.3 million) and Azerbaijan ($ 86.2 million) are Georgia's top trading partners in total external trade turnover in January 2021, show preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

Last month Georgia's top trading partners by exports were Azerbaijan ($34.4 million), Bulgaria ($27 million) and China ($26.9 million), while top trading partners by imports were China ($99.6 million), Turkey ($92.9 million) and Russia ($55.6 million).

The top three export items were the following:

  1. Copper ores and concentrates - $49.7 million, 22.1% of total exports
  2. Motor cars totalled - $24.9 million, 11.1% of total exports
  3. Ferro-alloys - $23.3 million, 10.4% of total exports

The top import commodities were as follows:

  1. Petroleum gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons - $46.3 million, 8.6% of total imports
  2. Moving, grading, extracting or boring machinery, for earth, minerals or ores - $40.8 million, 7.6% of total imports
  3. Petroleum and petroleum oils - $36.6 million, 6.8% of total imports

Overall, Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $763.9 million in January 2021, which is 16.3% lower compared to the same period of the last year.

The value of exports decreased 16.2% and totalled $224.4 million, while imports also decreased 16.4%, amounting to $539.4 million.
