Several roads closed in Georgia due to snowfalls, avalanche risks

Several roads have been closed or limited to certain types of vehicles throughout Georgia due to heavy snowfall and risks of avalanche, the Roads Department of the Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development reported earlier this evening.
The roads have been closed for all kinds of vehicles on following destinations:
- Kobi-Gudauri section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road due to a risk of avalanche
- Korsha-Shatili section of the Zhinvali-Barisakho-Shatili road due to heavy snowfall
- Kala-Ushguli section of the Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia-Lasdili road due to a risk of avalanche
- Paravani Pass due to snowfall
Movement has also been banned due to a blizzard on Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda and Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi roads for trailers and semi-trailers.
Movement has been banned on the Gudauri-Kobi section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road (eastern Georgia), due to strong wind and limited visibility reported the Roads Department of Georgia earlier today.
One individual has died and six have been injured after a roof collapsed in a steel workshop in the village of Vertkvichala on Rikoti Pass in Georgia.
Major roads in some regions of Georgia are closed or restricted to certain types of vehicles due to intense snow, ice and risk of avalanche.
A team of nine will be trained in Georgia for three years by French experts to identify avalanche zones and study ways of mitigating avalanche threats by three different mechanisms, announces the Mountain Resorts Development Company.
