Former Deputy Head of the National Environment Agency and President of the Economic Transformation Centre (ECT) Ramaz Gerliani has been found alive earlier today in the town Surami after going missing for three days on December 19 following a conflict with a policeman.
The former official said that he was going to ‘meet with death’ when police found him in Surami, noting that for three days he ’was moving in the direction of the forest.’
Gerliani was interrogated at the police station last night after which he told journalists that he was ‘feeling badly,’ confirming that he disappeared due to pressure from the policeman.
I have already given an explanation that the undignified and disrespectful action of the policeman Giorgi Gogniashvili towards me was the main reason that accumulated over time and I came to this decision,” said Gerliani.
In his Facebook post, which currently is no longer available, Gerliani accused officer Giorgi Gogniashvili of blackmail and invasion of private property. He stated that he found an armed Gogniashvili in his apartment on November 14, who interrogated him under ‘false pretences,’ which he reported to the police that same day.
Ramaz Gerliani also stated that Gogniashvili collected personal information about him and his family members 'through the police system and various means.’
The police found a cell phone and a letter in the office of Gerliani yesterday in which he asked God for forgiveness saying he ‘endured a lot’ and ‘is tired.’
