Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics announces winners of Charter Prize 2021

The Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics has announced the winners of the Charter Prize 2021, awarding media professionals for their high-quality works published in the Georgian media.
The winners were announced in five categories:
- Video report: Basti Mgaloblishvili (publika.ge)
- Multimedia project: Mtis Ambebi
- Article in print/online media: Eka Kevanishvili (Radio Liberty)
- Journalistic investigation: Nino Tsverava (Studio Monitor, Radio Liberty)
- Coverage of women's rights and gender equality: Ani Burduli (Radio Liberty)
The Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics was founded in 2009 to observe professional standards in the Georgian media.
A study into how information is acquired by citizens of Georgia, as well as their attitudes to its sources, says the local information ecosystem is "rich and plural", however "many challenges" remain in the field.
The Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics has called on the Georgian government not to encourage attacks on media following Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze’s accusations against journalists of ‘psychological violence.’
The EU and US ambassadors to Georgia have congratulated Georgian journalists on World Press Freedom Day.
Georgia has maintained its 60th spot out of 180 countries in the latest World Press Freedom Index from Reporters Without Borders (RSF), with the country's media landscape called "pluralist but not yet independent" by the organisation.
