Georgia reports 4,058 new Covid cases, 61 deaths

Georgia's health officials have reported 4,058 new Covid cases and 61 deaths over the past 24 hours.
The latest confirmations come from 53,440 tests taken by individuals in the same time period, and the number of active infections in the country now stands at 47,689.
In the daily update, the figures also come with 2,157 recoveries in the same period.
In vaccination data, 2,145,233 individuals have received jabs in the country so far, with a daily rate of 10,179 doses administered.
The number of daily cases has decreased since Friday, where 4,534 were identified, along with 74 deaths from the virus.
Since the start of the pandemic in the spring of 2020, the country has seen 835,306 confirmed cases of Covid-19, along with 11,871 deaths.
Georgian medical professionals have expressed their doubts regarding the issuance of termless COVID passes for recovered individuals, saying that ‘no other country’ follows such a practice. The statements came after the head of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze said yesterday that the government might allow two types of COVID passes for internal and foreign use, with the internal passes having no expiration date for individuals who have recovered from the virus.
Foreign citizens and individuals with non-resident status in Georgia can now use the health ministry's newly launched application for confirming their Covid-related status during their stay in the country, while the government has also announced venues and establishments the pass will allow access to.
Georgian Deputy Minister of Health Tamar Gabunia has said earlier today that face mask usage in the country amounts to 28%, while flu shots will be free of charge until December 1 and can be administered alongside Covid-19 vaccines.
Georgia may issue two types of COVID passes for internal and foreign use due to the government’s decision to give the passes to the individuals who have recovered from the virus, no matter when the recovery took place, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today.
Georgian and foreign citizens travelling from eight countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatin (Swaziland), Mozambique and Malawi, will need to quarantine for 14 days following the emergence of Covid-19 variant in South Africa.
