Abasha municipality will have its train station rehabilitated, while Martvili municipality will see the renovation of its central roads in the framework of the state's Renovated Regions programme.

Infrastructure works have already started in Abasha and Martvili municipalities, as well as the remaining seven municipalities of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region of Georgia.

The 4-year programme, implemented by the Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure and the Municipal Development Fund, covers 63 municipalities of Georgia and costs 500 million GEL (about $160 m. / €142 m.).

Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced in April that the programme would create approximately 15,000 jobs.
