The parliament of Georgia has passed a new bill which makes registration and possession of driver's license mandatory for all moped and quad-bike drivers starting spring 2022.

81 out of the total 84 MPs who attended the session supported the bill. No one voted against the amendments.

The package of legislative changes also includes the change in the practical examination for obtaining the driver's license. The examination will be held in two stages, with the second stage being held in actual traffic conditions.

The bill on making the possession of a driver’s license mandatory for all types of moped and quad-bikes was proposed to the parliament in 2019.

The impetus behind the new law is Georgia’s responsibilities to the EU under the Association Agreement.
