Head of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, Irakli Kobakhidze, says that the United National Movement (UNM) opposition party has discussed the possibility of poisoning the leader of the Droa opposition party, Elene Khoshtaria, to further strain political tension.
Khoshtaria has been on hunger strike for seven days in solidarity with former president, Mikheil Saakashvili, in the parliament building of Georgia.
Kobakhidze said earlier today that a source informed the GD that a meeting composed of ten UNM representatives was held yesterday, where the participants ‘seriously discussed’ poisoning Khoshtaria.
.@GeorgianDream41's Irakli Kobakhidze just announced during a briefing that he has "confidential" information the opposition is "discussing scenarios to poison" @Helenkhosh - who is now on her 7th day of a hunger-strike. An open threat from the government's side.

I once again warn everyone to refrain from taking any radical steps. Any attempted crime will be strongly punished,” Kobakhidze said.
He stated that the UNM is ‘desperately trying’ to cause unrest in the country following the recent municipal elections, and thanked law enforcement for ensuring peace during recent opposition rallies in Tbilisi and other regions.
Khoshtaria responded that ‘what Kobakhidze said is absurd and indicates that the ruling party is in a very complicated situation.’
She, like the UNM, is demanding Saakashvili’s transfer to a civil clinic for treatment, instead of the prison hospital where Saakashvili is at the moment, on his 40th day of hunger strike.
The UNM also demands the release of Saakashvili from prison and the annulment of the municipal election results.
