The Consumer Price Index in October 2021 increased by 1.3% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate in Georgia stood at 12.8%, the latest inflation data of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) show. 

With regard to the annual core inflation, [which is calculated by excluding food and non-alcoholic beverages, energy, regulated tariffs, and transport from the consumer basket], the prices increased by 6.3%, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 6.2%,” Geostat reports. 

The monthly inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes in the following groups:

  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3%)
  • Clothing and footwear (+9.2%)

While the annual inflation rate was mainly influenced by price changes in the following groups:

  • Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+18.4%)
  • Transport (+19.6%)
  • Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+11.9%)
  • Health (+8.4%)

The prices were higher for the following subgroups:

  • Vegetables (+9%)
  • Bread and cereals (+5.5%)
  • Fish (+4.2%)
  • Milk, cheese and eggs (+3.6%)
  • Sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery (+1.2%)

However, the prices of fruit decreased by 1.1%.
