The prices of transport, restaurants and hotel food, furnishings, household equipment and maintenance have increased in Georgia month-on-month, according to the latest inflation data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
In May 2021 transport prices increased by 2%. Within the group, prices increased for operation of personal transport equipment (2.8%).
Prices in the group of restaurants and hotels increased by 1.4%. The prices increased for accommodation services (2.5%) and catering services (1.3%).
Prices in the group of furnishings, household equipment and maintenance increased by 1.7%.
Overall, in May 2021 the consumer price index increased 0.7% compared to the previous month, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 7.7%.
With regard to annual core inflation, which is calculated by excluding the groups of food and non-alcoholic beverages, energy, regulated tariffs, transport from the consumer basket, the prices increased by 6.5%, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 6.4%", said Geostat.
As for annual inflation, prices increased in the group of transport (+17.4%), health (+13.4%), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+6.6%) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.3%).
