A new factory of Italian bread and semi-finished products, Romiveria, has opened in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi.
About €1 million was invested in Romiveria which currently employs 35 people.
At the first stage the factory will produce different types of piadina, a thin Italian flatbread and in the second stage, Romiveria will start the production of semi-finished products such as ready-made sandwiches, sliced ham and cheese, and various cheeses, dry fruit and hazelnuts that will pair with Georgian wine.

Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava, who participated in the factory opening ceremony today, said that developing small businesses in the country is important for contributing to the growth of the Georgian economy and overcoming poverty.
I am very happy that this wonderful factory has been opened and I hope that the existing good investment environment has contributed to its creation", Turnava said.
She promised the management of Romiveria state support if needed.
The Georgian capital city of Tbilisi is welcoming the first protein and other food additives factory in the South Caucasus in which a 2 million GEL investment was made, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.
The turnover received by the Georgian business sector increased by 4.9% (y/y) and amounted to 114.3 billion GEL in 2020, says the National Statistic Office of Georgia (Geostat). The value of production generated by the business sector increased by 2.7% (y/y) and amounted to 46.2 billion GEL. Large businesses made up the majority of total turnover (58.3%), followed by small businesses (23.8%), and then medium-sized businesses (17.9%).
In order to develop local production, increase exports and gradually replace imports the government of Georgia has decided to finance over 1,300 new businesses within the state programme Produce in Georgia over the next two to three years, announces Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava.
The McDonald’s Group in Georgia has opened its first bread factory, Breadfield, in the capital city of Tbilisi today which will supply buns to McDonalds restaurants not only in Georgia, but also in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
