Georgian judokas win silver at Tokyo Paralympics 2020

Georgian judokas Ina Kaldani and Revaz Chikoidze have won silver at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili congratulated both athletes on taking silver.

Two more medals at the Tokyo Paralympics! Ina is the first Georgian woman to make it to the finals of wrestling in the history of the Olympics and Paralympics. Congratulations to Ina, Revaz and all their supporters", said Garibashvili. 

Kaldani, competing in the -70 kg weight category, won two fights before reaching the final, defeating Lenia Ruvalkaba of Mexico in the second round and Japan’s Kazusa Ogawa in the semifinals. She lost against current world champion Brazilian Alana Maldonado in the final.

Kaldani became the first Georgian female judoka to win a medal at the Paralympic Games.

The Georgian Paralympics Delegation has 13 athletes in six sports at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, which opened on August 24 and will close on September 5.
