Georgia has been re-elected as a member of the Council of Administration (CA) and of the Postal Operations Council (POC) of the UN's Universal Postal Union for a second term during the 27th Universal Postal Congress in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.

With membership in the CA, Georgia will be a direct participant in the development and adoption of important decisions over the next four years", reports the ministry.

Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava stated that membership on the councils is yet another step forward in strengthening Georgia’s engagement in the field of postal services in cooperation with the international community.

The election of Georgia...is an international recognition of our country for the implementation of the reforms that Georgia is implementing in terms of development of the postal sector and improvement of postal services. This recognition will help international players in the global postal industry to show more interest in developing Georgia as a center of regional importance for postal services", Turnava said.

Georgia will be a member of the councils until the next Universal Postal Congress which is scheduled for 2025.
