Georgian external trade up 21.8% in January-July 2021

Georgia’s external trade turnover amounted to $7.48 billion in January-July 2021, which is 21.8% higher compared to the same period of the last year, show preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The value of exports increased 27.8% and totalled $2.27 billion, while imports also increased 19.3%, amounting to $5.20 billion.

The trade deficit of Georgia in January-July 2021 amounted to $2.93 billion which is 39.2% of total trade turnover.

Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava said that increased export means increased production, more jobs and income.

She said that the promotion of exports and export industries is among the priority areas of the government.
