New portal helps Covid-infected patients get family doctor service in Georgia

A new portal has been launched for Covid-19 infected patients in Georgia in order to easily give them access to the service of a family doctor, announces the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Citizens who test positive for Covid-19 have the opportunity to register on https://er.moh.gov.ge/. The information received by the emergency service 112 will be processed and forwarded to the family doctor for further monitoring.
The portal was developed by the Public Safety Management Center 112 and the Ministry of Health.
The purpose of introducing the new portal was, on the one hand, to create an additional communication channel for the citizens infected with the Covid-19 and, on the other hand, to reduce the number of calls to 112, the statement reads.
A covid patient has died at Gudauta district hospital in Russian-occupied Abkhazia due to a respiratory ventilator’s failure caused by an electricity outage, local media reports. Doctors started taking resuscitation measures immediately, however they were not able to save one patient, the so-called health ministry of Abkhazia reported.
Georgia has reported 5,128 new cases of coronavirus, 3,310 recoveries and 49 deaths in the past 24 hours. 47,601 remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia. 49,189 tests were conducted around the country in the past 24 hours. 29,357 of the 49,189 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 19,832 were PCR tests. The country has had 466,326 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
The Georgia Patriarchate says that the future decision of Patriarch Ilia II whether or not to receive the coronavirus vaccine, who is the most trusted figure in the country, ‘should not be a determiner for others.’
With rising Covid-19 cases Georgia is now going through the peak of a fourth wave of the pandemic and Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze says that 'the infection rate will reach its peak by August 20’. Georgia reported 5,352 new cases of coronavirus, 2,635 recoveries and 48 deaths in the past 24 hours, while 45,832 remain infected with Covid-19 in the country. She added that as of today more than 3,000 people are undergoing inpatient treatment in the capital city of Tbilisi, about 900 in Adjara, and 1,000 patients in the Imereti region of Georgia.
The Georgian government has imposed coronavirus restrictions between August 14 and September 4 to curb the spread of coronavirus. The restrictions are as follows: Public transport will not work between August 14 and September 4. Intercity transport will work in a regular manner. The government promises they will ensure regular transportation of people (in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Rustavi) to main hospitals or clinics to receive the coronavirus vaccine.
