Deputy Interior Minister Vladimer Bortsvadze resigns

Deputy Interior Minister Vladimer Bortsvadze, who has served in the post since 2019, has resigned. Bortsvadze has  left the post on the basis of a personal statement, Interpressnews agency reports.

Vladimir Bortsvadze was appointed deputy interior minister on February 6, 2019 when former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia served as Interior Minister.

Prior, between April 2018 and February 2019 Bortsvadze chaired the interior ministry's central criminal police department. 

Another Deputy Interior Minister Kakhaber Sabanadze resigned in late March amid reports from Mtavari Arkhi and TV Pirveli TV channels on illegal surveillance and hampering an opposition protest back in 2019.
