In an initiative launched to support women artists from Georgia and abroad, a Digital Exhibition Week of Women in Art is starting today with an online display of works by professional and amateur creators and ways to connect them with prospective buyers and enthusiasts.
Involving artwork from artists from a dozen countries, the week-long display is kick-starting what organisers hope to become a regular occurrence to support women creators' economic empowerment and showcase them on the art scene.
On a specially designed online platform, their works are displayed in an interactive showcase, with viewers able to navigate and discover exhibits as well as information on artists. A parallel series of online meetings provides master classes from professional creatives during the event.
The project received submissions after announcing a call running through April 30, with the eventual roster of creatives set to receive certificates of participation in the week-long initiative. Future editions of the event will also feature other artistic disciplines.

Organisers also plan to release a "first" digital catalogue of contemporary women artists, and create a database of participants for future digital events, while also providing a platform for networking for both creatives and galleries.
Run by the Women Business Council in Georgia, the project also finds support from Tbilisi City Hall, and will run online through June 2.
