Iconic buildings around the world light up for Georgia’s 30th Independence Day

Dozens of countries around the world have illuminated their iconic buildings in red and white – the colours of Georgia’s national flag to mark the 30th anniversary of Georgia’s independence from the Soviet Union.

To celebrate the Independence Day of Georgia, the Olympic stadium in Wroclaw was lit in red and white. The Georgian national anthem was also performed during the event.

Poland was the first among the European countries to congratulate Georgia on it’s 30th Independence Day.

The main symbol of Brussels, the Manneken Pis, was dressed in Georgian chokha - the Georgian national clothes for men:

The residensial house of Lord Mayor of Dublin was lit up in colours of the Georgian flag:

A popular Georgian song based on Akaki Tsereteli's poem Suliko was performed in Saarbrücken City Hall in Frankfurt am Main. 

Georgian Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation Revaz Lominadze’s welcome speech has been accompanied by breath-taking views and a concert performed by the joint Georgian-Swiss chamber orchestra organised in the framework of the project “Cultural Bridge between Georgia and Switzerland”.

With the Georgian flag on the Ataturk Tower, Turkey has congratulated Georgia on its Independence Day:

The Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku also lit up in the colours of Georgia’s national flag.
