In total 400 restaurants operating in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi will receive one-time financial assistance from Tbilisi City Hall next week, announces the Tbilisi City Hall.
During the week-long holidays announced in Georgia on May 4 to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the funding process was suspended.
City Hall announced that the process of verifying documents will be resumed today and the aid will be transferred next week.
In March 2020, Tbilisi City Hall announced a subsidy programme for small and medium restaurant businesses.
Financial assistance for the restaurants was set at 5,000 GEL. However, in case of operations of more than one restaurant by one legal entity, financing amounted to 10,000 GEL.
In total about 2 million GEL is allocated for the programme.
All restaurants registered before November 28, 2020, will receive the subsidy.
In addition to restaurants, the Government of Georgia has decided to subsidise 80% of the interest rate on loans to the sports industry and private kindergartens, announces Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
Week-long public holidays begin in Georgia today to reduce public mobility and curb the spread of the coronavirus. The interagency commission recommended employers allow their employees to work from home.
Restaurants in Georgia will have to open their doors starting on January 15 or face a risk of permanent closure, Georgian Restaurateurs Association founder Shota Burjanadze said at a press briefing on Wednesday in comments on the current governmental restrictions on the venues.
After reopening, restaurants must abide by the recommendations of the Health Ministry that tables not stand less than two meters apart in closed area restaurants. Moreover, there should not be more than six persons at a table with no less than one meter distance between them.
Georgia has reported 1,576 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting a total of 44,278 tests over the last 24 hours. Out of the 1,576 new cases 868 were reported in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
