Finnish corporation Nokia has expressed an interest in entering the Georgian market, announces the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.
Georgian Deputy Economy Ministers Genadi Arveladze and Irakli Nadareishvili met with regional Vice-President of Nokia Mikko Lavanti earlier today to discuss areas in which Nokia could invest in Georgia.
The development of broadband infrastructure, artificial intelligence and the digital economy in general are the main directions which Nokia could find interesting in Georgia, announces the ministry.
We talked about what kind of cooperation we can have in terms of providing services to the Georgian government and the Georgian people. I was delighted to hear about the tax incentive programme and the various development plans aimed at making the role of digital services clearer in the world of the future", Lavanti said after the meeting.
The deputy economy ministers talked about the current situation in the field of IT development in Georgia at the meeting. It was noted that Georgia has ambitions to become a digital hub in the region, to which end it is implementing a number of programmes.
In addition, the country’s favourable legislative and business environment was discussed, which aims to bring international technology corporations into the country and open regional offices, which should contribute to the development of the country's economy and the creation of new jobs, says the ministry.
