UPDATED: Interior Ministry says all hostages released, attacker detained

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that police officers have detained the bank attacker, Nikoloz Tsurtsumia (born in 1993)  and have released seven hostages.

"As a result of negotiations between the representative of the Interior Ministry and the bank attacker, all hostages were gradually released. No one has been injured as a result of attack", reports the press office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs."

It is unknown yet whether the attacker demanded money.

All the hostages will be questioned regarding the incident.

An armed man has attacked a Bank of Georgia branch and has taken hostages near Avlabari Metro Station in Tbilisi today.

The Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) reports that police officers have taken several individuals out of the building, though it is unknown yet whether they were hostages or other citizens.

Ambulance teams and law enforcers are mobilised on the spot.
