The amount of injured people on worksites decreased by 16 per cent in 2019, while the amount of people killed at worksites decreased by 25 per cent, says Labour Conditions Inspection Department.
Labor condition inspectors carried out 1,575 inspections at construction worksites in 2019 which is nine times more compared to the previous year, says the department.
As a result of the inspection, 4,806 instructions were given, while 558 worksites were warned. The department fined 431 worksites, while they suspended work at 92 worksites. 127 worksites fulfilled the instructions.
Georgia has 100 labour condition inspectors in total, despite the fact that the International Labor Organisation recommends 90 inspectors for developing countries.
