How the private sector is helping fight coronavirus in Georgia

The amount of people under quarantine and self-isolation is increasing day by day due to the widespread new coronavirus, Covid-19, in the country, while the private sector is responding with various types of supportive activities, expressing public responsibility in defeating the virus.

The Cartu Foundation, founded by the ruling Georgian Dream party chairman and leader Bidzina Ivanishvili, has announced earlier today that the company will provide financial assistance to the state if need arises in order to protect Georgian citizens from the danger of the virus spreading.

The Georgian Football Federation has also expressed its readiness  and has allocated ($33,905) 100,000 GEL to support the fight against the new coronavirus – Covid-19 in Georgia.

We are also ready to arrange a new quarantine zone in the hotel of the federation. We feel the importance of unity and public responsibility in defeating this challenge together”, reads the statement of the Federation published on its official website.

Georgian mineral water company Borjomi, dry fruits producing company Chikori and the company Ujapo have provided patients and individuals under quarantine with their products today, expressing their gratitude to Georgian medics for their hard work.

Food delivery company Wolt has added ‘contactless’ delivery to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

As you know, Wolt has an electronic payment service, which means that all customers, including people under self-isolation and quarantine, can use the contactless delivery feature. Couriers will be able to avoid handing over cash”, reads the statement of Wolt.

Evex Medical Corporation has created a mobile team of family physicians who will visit companies on-site and provide employees with necessary medical assistance if needed.

The Chinese company Hualing Group donated complete biological safety kits to the State Medical Holding on March 6.

Hualing Group wishes to contribute to these preventive activities. Within the scope of company`s social responsibility, Hualing Group has donated 500 complete biological safety kits to The State Medical Holding", 

 

As of now, 295 individuals are under quarantine in Georgia, while 49 remain at hospitals due to suspicious symptoms.
