Occupying forces illegally detain Georgian citizen in Gori municipality

Russian occupation forces have illegally detained a citizen of the village of Bershueti in the Gori municipality today. The Georgian State Security Service has confirmed detention of a Georgian woman.
We confirm the fact of illegal detention. The hotline has been set up. We have informed the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM). Work underway to release the Georgian citizen”, reads the official statement of the State Security Service.
The Russian occupation forces illegally placed a new so-called border sign in the village of Bershueti on July 3, 2017. Due to the illegal border sign, parts of several local farmers’ agricultural lands had fallen behind the occupation line.
Famous Georgian doctor and traumatologist Vazha Gaprindashvili and three others have been illegally detained by Russian-controlled occupation forces, the Georgian State Security Service has confirmed.
Occupation forces have illegally detained two Georgian citizens at the village of Kodistskaro, Kaspi municipality, near the occupation line with Georgia’s Russian-controlled Tskhinvali region, the Georgian State Security Service has confirmed. A 28-year-old Georgian citizen, Zakaria Butkhuzi, who was detained by occupation forces earlier this week, has been released, the Georgian State Security Service reports.Butkhuzi was illegally detained by occupation forces near Georgia’s Russian-occupied Tskhinvali region “for illegally crossing the border.”
The Russian occupation forces deployed in central Georgia have moved the occupation line further into Georgian territory. This step saw about 10 more hectares of Georgian soil in the heart of the country now become occupied by Russia.
