Seasonal influenza will  peak between the end of January and February, announced officials from G. Zhvania Academic Clinic of Pediatry today.

Doctors urge patients with high temperature, frequent breathing and vomiting to refuse self-treatment and apply medical facilities on time.

Pediatrician Maia Kherkheulidze gives advice to parents to leave their children at home while having flu symptoms with high temperature, headache and vomiting.

We have a lot cases when  parents take their children to the kindergartens despite high temperature, flu and cough…The main recommendation for caregivers is to ventilate rooms and follow hygiene standards, wash hands as often as possible and wear face masks ”, said Maia Kherkheulidze.

Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control and public Health said that the morbidity rate of seasonal influenza is 191 in 100,000 people, which is less than the same period of last year. His advice to the citizens is to vaccinate.

The Georgian Health Ministry announced that pregnant women and members of vulnerable groups will receive the antiviral medication Tamiflu free of charge with a doctor’s prescription.
