Georgian film director Aleksandre (Sasha) Rekhviashvili, also known for his work as a screenwriter, has died at the age of 82.
The acclaimed Georgian cinematographer, who had studied in Moscow, worked at the Georgian Film studio since 1971 as well as delivered lectures at the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgia State University.

Rekhviashvili’s work has been recognised in Georgia and abroad for which he has received a number of national and international awards.
His latest documentary film about acclaimed Georgian painter Jibson Khundadze premiered in 2019.
