Internally displaced persons (IDPs) who own no more than five hectares of agricultural land may be exempt from paying property tax, announced Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia at a government meeting earlier today.

This change is part of proposed reforms to value added tax which was presented today at a government meeting by Georgian PM Gakharia.

The new reform and legislative changes will help Georgian businesses develop,” noted Gakharia, adding that that the new reform ensures the harmonisation of tax legislation with the European Union.

Gakharia noted that legislative changes will help Georgian businesses make effective use of the opportunities Georgia has per the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement (DCFTA).
