Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has congratulated United States Congressman Gerald Connolly on being elected as president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA).

Connolly was elected by electronic acclamation at the virtual NATO PA Annual Session amid the coronavirus travel restrictions.

As Congressman Gerald Connolly said, Georgia is exemplary in the regions with its independence, political pluralism and democratic governance gained in a neighborhood where autocracy and authoritarianism have taken root frequently.
President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Gerald Connolly spoke about the failed EU-mediated talks between the Georgian ruling party and the opposition, saying that ‘the political situation in Georgia remains a cause of deep concern’.
