A Georgian citizen has been illegally detained close to the Russia-occupied Georgian region of Tskhinvali.

The State Security Service has announced that the individual was detained in the vicinity of the Zardiantkari village of Gori municipality yesterday.

Illegal detentions by the occupying forces affect the security environment on the ground and seriously deteriorate the everyday lives of the local population”, the State Security Service said

The European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) has been informed and its hotline has been activated.

Co-chairs of Geneva International Discussions and other international partners of Georgia have also been notified.

US, UNDP alarmed by shooting, illegal detention of Georgian man by Russian-led occupation forces
