Voter turnout stands at 8.33% by 10 a.m. in Georgian parliamentary elections

A total of 292,587 voters (8.3% of eligible voters) have cast their ballots in the Georgian parliamentary elections by 10 a.m.

To compare, in the parliamentary elections on October 8 of 2016, voter turnout stood at 8.34 per cent (293,047) by 10 a.m.

Georgia’s Central Election Commission says the most active polling station was #19 in Racha-Lechkhumi and Svaneti, where 11.8 per cent of registered voters have cast their vote by 10 a.m.

The least number of voters were registered at #28, #29 and #30 polling stations in Georgia’s western Adjara region(a region-wide turnout of 7.3%) by 10 a.m.

The Central Election Commission says sanitary regulations in all polling stations are being observed.

The Central Election Commission would like to remind Georgian citizens that a voter must wear a face mask when entering the polling station. If he/she does not have one, the administration will provide one. When a voter arrives at the polling stations, he/she has to remove the face mask twice for a short period of time in order to identify him or herself”, says the press office of Central Election Commission.

Disposable pens will be distributed on the site to prevent the possible transmission of the coronavirus.

Georgians are heading to the polls today to elect the country’s 10th national legislature since independence from the Soviet Union back in 1991.
