The grape harvest has ended in Georgia and the Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia says it was a record high harvest in the past 30 years.

Gakharia said that 277,000 tonnes of grapes were processed in the Kakheti region while about 1,400 tonnes were processed in the Racha-Lechkhumi region of Georgia.

He said that this was one of the best harvests in Georgia, which was challenging at the same time because of the coronavirus pandemic.

We did our best to support our grape growers in this process", said Gakharia.

He added that the harvest of peaches and apples still continues in the country and so far the process goes successfully.

The government of Georgia subsidised the 2020 grape harvest, in particular the grape varieties of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane in order to support farmers completely sell their produce.

The price of Rkatsiteli and Kakhuri Mtsvane should not be less than 80 tetri.
