Down Syndrome Centre has been opened on S. Chikovani street in Tbilisi which will be the first institution of its kind in Georgia.
The centre will be focused on children and adults with Down Syndrome and their parents.
Educational pilot programmes aimed at involving people with Down Syndrome in public life from an early age will be implemented at the centre, and will integrate projects and programs of the Georgian Down Syndrome Association, which includes education and development of children and adolescents with Down Syndrome, awareness raisin and strengthening their families, supporting an independent life of adults, professional growth of specialists and raising public awareness.
Currently the Georgian Down Syndrome Association brings together 600 children with Down Syndrome and their families across the country, of which 300 are from Tbilisi.
