Georgian court sentences foreign citizen to 8 years in prison for fraud

The Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office reports that N.S., a British citizen, convinced the director of a business in the Czech Republic to transfer €89,240 to N.S. 's bank account of an enterprise established in Georgia.

Tbilisi City Court has sentenced a foreign citizen identified only as N.S. to eight years in prison for defrauding a Czech businessman of close to 90,000 euros.

The Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office reports that N.S., a British citizen, convinced the director of a business in the Czech Republic to transfer €89,240 to N.S. 's bank account of an enterprise established in Georgia.

N.S. allegedly told the Czech businessman that he would use the money to buy shares in companies on the New York Stock Exchange, and return a percent of his earnings.

The companies he promised to invest in were non-existent.
