Georgian law enforcement agencies are cracking down on crimes committed against local and foreign citizens.

This week efforts of Georgian law enforcers saw a Canadian fraud victim be reunited with $75,000 USD of his own money after it was fraudulently obtained by three men.

Tbilisi City Court found the three men – two Georgian citizens and one Nigerian citizen – guilty of fraudulently obtaining funds from Canada man Kurtis Martin McMilan, while the latter was in Tbilisi.

The three offenders, whose names have not been released, were found guilty of swindling $75,000 off McMilan.

In a statement released yesterday, Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office said the three individuals contacted McMilan using the name of his business partner and used deceptive means to transfer $75,000 into a Georgian bank account.

Once he realized he had been scammed, McMilan contacted Georgian law enforcement agencies, who investigated the crime and found those responsible.

McMilan has already had his money returned.
