Georgian epidemiologists say that daily coronavirus cases in Georgia may peak in the middle of November.
Deputy Head of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Paata Imadze says Georgia is only now facing what could be called a first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which hit most countries around the world back in early spring.
All the necessary measures were taken in a timely manner in the beginning of spring in Georgia. Since then we [epidemiologists] have gained experience in terms of fighting the virus, we have learned a lot. The country will no longer be placed under lockdown. The further spread of the coronavirus is expected… The coronavirus pandemic in Georgia may peak in the middle of November, which means that seasonal infections will not coincide with Covid-19 in the winter. This is a big plus for the healthcare system”, said Imnadze.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated earlier today that the government has no plans to declare a state of emergency or implement any other systemic restrictions amid the serious growth of coronavirus cases in Georgia.
Gakharia noted that now the health system is ready to manage the virus.
