48 children poisoned in Gori, eastern Georgia, 16 remain in hospital

Forty eight children have been poisoned in Kombinati District in Georgia’s eastern city of Gori, out of which 16 are still undergoing treatment in a hospital.

Head of the Critical Care Department of Mother's and Children's Medical Centre Iavnana, Lia Lazaradze told TV Pirveli that patients with nausea, vomiting and stomach ache asked to be admitted to the hospital on Saturday and Sunday, out of which 23 have received medical services in the emergency department and have already been discharged.

The health condition of the remaining 16 children is stable. The poisoning may be related to food or water, however I can not give a concrete reason at the moment. The parents of the children have similar symptoms. They have also to different hospitals”, said Lazaradze.

Acting head of the Shida Kartli municipality Simon Guledani told TV Pirveli that water samples have already been taken at the Kombinati district and the results will be known at the end of the day.
