Fifteen shops have burnt down after a powerful fire in Didube district at Tbilisi’s Eliava Market late in the evening of September 28.
Several wood warehouses and other shops have burnt down as a result of the fire.

Head of Didube district Irma Zavradashvili said that about 1,000 square metres of the market burnt down.
There was a danger the fire would spread over a larger area, however thanks to the reaction of firefighters and rescuers the fire was extinguished in a timely manner. The owner of the Eliava Market said the burnt shops were insured… It is too early to talk about the causes of the fire”, said Zavradashvili.
No fatalities occurred as a result of the fire.
