Resource officers have reported 17,739 violations or alleged violations at Georgian public schools between April and November of 2019, confiscating 1,228 banned items.
The resource officers, who are responsible for safety at public schools, carried out 5,346 superficial checks of pupils between April and November of 2019, confiscating 19 blunt objects, tobacco, one taser, 29 sharp objects and other banned items.
Resource officers say that compared to the same period of 2018, the number of violations or alleged violations has increased. However, they say that in 2019, they covered 130 new schools, which also caused the increase.
