Ramaz Kharazishvili, a member of the Georgian Rugby Union, has been injured in a shooting in the building of the Rugby Union earlier today.
Kharazishvili received injuries to his leg. His life is not in danger. All employees of the Rugby Union are cooperating with the police”, Tornike Gogebashvili, acting president of the Rugby Union told 1TV.ge.
Gogebashvili claims he does not know why Kharazishvili was attacked.
IPN reports that Kharazishvili was allegedly shot by the vice-president of the Rugby Union, Merab Beselia, who did so following a dispute with Kharazishvili.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into the illegal purchase, possession and carrying of a firearm, damage to health.

Police have detained vice-president of Rugby Union Merab Beselia for injuring rugby player Ramaz Kharazishvili earlier today. The Interior Ministry also reported that Beselia, who fired at Kharazishvili ‘on the basis of conflict’ was detained by Vake-Saburtalo police division.
World Rugby, the international governing body for the sport, has resumed its financial support for Georgia after a "positive" meeting between representatives of the global organisation and Georgia Rugby Union that clarified management-related questions after repeatedly postponed elections for the president of the local body over the last year.
