Coronavirus cases decrease to 5 in Georgia, two in 600 test positive for COVID-19 in Mestia

Georgia has reported five new cases of the coronavirus earlier today. 

Two of the five  new patients are from the Lenjeri village of Mestia municipality which is on coronavirus lockdown, two new cases are imported (one is a truck driver), while the remaining one contracted the virus from an infected individual. 

Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control says that only two of 600 individuals in Mestia have tested positive for the coronavirus over the past several hours.

More than 1,000 have been tested for the coronavirus in the municipality over the past two days.

We keep the coronavirus situation in Mestia under full control. Steps have been taken urgently to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the municipality and the situation is absolutely manageable,” head of the National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today.

Since February 26, 2020 Georgia has had 1,283 cases of the coronavirus. 

1,068 of the 1,283 patients have recovered, while 17 others have died. 

As of today 198 people remain infected with COVID-19 in Georgia. 

More than 258,000 people have been tested for the coronavirus around the country so far.
