The oscar-nominated film of the Georgian director Dito Tsintsadze Shindisi about the 2008 August War will be screened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) in the United States later this month.
The Georgian National Film Centre (GNFC) announced that Shindisi will be screened at Santa Barbara on January 21, 22 and 24.

The 20-member cast underwent training at the base of the Georgian Defence Ministry for fighting scenes. Actors Goga Pipinashvili and Dato Bakhtadze play the leading roles in the film.
The film which premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival last year received Grand Prix, while Tsintsadze was named best director.
In the feature, a roster of Georgian actors and service member is cast in a script based on real events of the conflict by Irakli Solomanashvili.
Filming for Shindisi was done at the actual location in central Georgia, with Georgian-based 20 Steps Productions and Free Movie Studio.
