Electric buses will be added to the transport fleet of Georgia’s Black Sea town of Batumi starting this autumn, says Batumi City Hall.

Batumi will be the first city with electric buses in Georgia.

The eight white electric buses will be 9.5 meters long and can accommodate up to 70 passengers.

Batumi City Hall says that the new electric buses are modern and adapted for people with disabilities. They will also have a sound system and video cameras.

The electric buses will be rechargeable in just 10 minutes.

The tender was announced by the EBRD and the winner company is BKM.

The project costs €4 million.

Batumi already has 40 diesel buses.
