Georgian citizen charged with human trafficking found dead in Greece

A Georgian citizen arrested for human trafficking has been found dead at a temporary detention centre in Alexandroupolis, Greece, on May 28.

The local media reports the Georgian citizen has committed suicide. His trial was scheduled to begin in the coming days.

The Georgian Foreign Ministry stated that an autopsy is underway to reveal the cause behind the man’s death.

The Georgian Consulate in Greece has been in touch with family members of the 64-year-old deceased Georgian citizen.
