Georgian citizen extradited from Ukraine on terrorism charges

A Georgian citizen wanted by an Interpol red notice on terrorism charges has been extradited from Ukraine to Georgia.
The Georgian State Security Service reported earlier today that the Ukrainian security forces detained Tsezar Tokhosashvili, known as Al-bara Shishani, in Kiev on November 12, 2019 on charges of ‘participation in a terrorist organisation’.

Based on the investigation of the Georgian Counterterrorism Center, Tokhosashvili joined the terrorist organisation Islamic State’ in Syria and has been actively participating in terrorist activities since 2015.
He had close relations with the leaders of the organisation, including Tarkhan Batirashvili, Islam Atabiev and Akmed Chataev.
In Georgia, Tokhosashvili has been charged in absentia and was sentenced to imprisonment by Tbilisi City Court.
The crime is punishable by 15 years in prison.
UK citizen Jack Shepherd, who surrendered to the Georgian police on 23 January, has told the Tbilisi City Court that he does not want to be extradited to his homeland immediately.
Hacker Yaroslav Sumbayev, who faces cybercrime and murder charges in the Russian Federation, has been extradited to Russia from Tbilisi earlier today.
The State Security Service of Georgia has arrested yet another man for allegedly helping Akhmed Chataev, an Islamic State-linked terrorist, enter Georgia. Based on the investigation, Anatoli Berdzenishvili travelled to Turkey to assist Chataev and his group.
Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS) has confirmed that one of the three killed suspects in the Tbilisi counter-terrorist operation on November 22 is an Islamic State-linked, Russia citizen of Chechen origin, Ahmed Chataev. Two Georgian citizens who were wanted by Interpol have been extradited from France to Georgia. An official statement released by the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia reads that V.G. was declared wanted by Interpol Red Notice Application for murder, while T.J. was declared wanted for illegal purchase, transportation and sale of drugs in especially large quantities.
